ABVP Meghalaya wants reconduct of NEET-UG exam after discrepancies

Shillong, May 7: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Meghalaya has expressed concern over the discrepancies observed during the NEET-UG 2024 examination held at the Jowai Centre, specifically at St. Mary Mazzarello Girls Hr. Sec School.

Similar problem was reported from Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ABVP said that the candidates at the Jowai centre were confronted with the distribution of two sets of question papers, denoted as (1) QRST and (2) MNOP, each featuring entirely different sets of questions. This unforeseen circumstance has instigated widespread panic and confusion among the candidates, the ABVP said.

“Moreover the candidates’ admit cards were also not collected by the invigilator which is generally a rule every year. On enquiry by students they were informed that it’s new system but much later when most of the candidates reached their homes after writing the exams, they were called back to submit their admit cards from the centre giving much more confusion and panic among the students”, said the ABVP.
In light of the distressing developments, the ABVP has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to provide immediate clarification regarding the rationale behind the distribution of two distinct sets of question papers for the same examination. The ABVP also sought  clarification on the authenticity of each set of questions, and ‘implores NTA to elucidate which set is deemed correct and which is incorrect’.

“Should it transpire that the two sets of question papers distributed at the Jowai Centre indeed differ, ABVP advocates for the affected candidates to be afforded the opportunity for a re-examination. Such a course of action is imperative to uphold the integrity and fairness of the NEET-UG 2024 examination process. ABVP urges NTA to expedite their response and take decisive action to address this matter with the utmost urgency. The affected candidates eagerly await resolution and assurance of equitable treatment in this regard”, the ABVP said.
