Activist petitions human rights panel & labour commissioner on plight of GHADC staff

Opp holds prayer service for good governance

Shillong, Aug 24: Social activist Cherian Momin has petitioned the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Labour Commission of India regarding the plight of GHADC staff, as they have not been getting salaries for 43 months.

According to Cherian, the petition addresses the grave humanitarian crisis faced by employees of the GHADC, who have been deprived of their rightful salaries for 43 consecutive months, forcing them into prolonged agitation and hardships. “The situation has escalated into a serious violation of fundamental human rights and labour protections guaranteed under the Constitution of India”, he said.
