Advocate General to file report after status quo order on Laban Circuit House

Shillong, Nov 28: Advocate General will file an affidavit after the High Court of Meghalaya ordered a status quo on the Laban Circuit House.
The government had decided to demolish the heritage structure built by former West Bengal Chief Minister BC Roy in the 1920s.

The court on Thursday took up the PIL regarding the matter and examined the short affidavit filed on behalf of the state respondents.

Advocate General submitted that a more detailed affidavit will be filed after examining relevant records with regard to the history and its transition to becoming a Circuit House of the state.

S.Chakrawarty, Amicus has submitted that in view of the fact that a detailed and composite affidavit will be filed by the state respondents, an affidavit from the Amicus will be filed thereafter, on receipt of the affidavit.

The matter will be placed before the regular PIL bench headed by the Chief Justice.

The court ordered the status quo till the next date of hearing.
