
Shillong, April 3: Chief Secretary DP Wahlang described famed Shillong photographer Ahmed Husain (93) as an extraordinary talent and one who showcased Meghalaya to the world through his lenses.
Husain, who passed away on April 2, was laid to rest on Thursday.
“A soft spoken and kind hearted individual he was an epitome of humility and cared about the poorer section of the society. Through his numerous charities, he contributed quietly and seamlessly for their cause.May his soul rest in eternal peace”, Wahlang said.
Earlier in the day, people from all walks paid tribute to the departed soul at his residence at Police Bazar before he was laid to rest at Muslim Graveyard, Mawprem.
A frequent vistor to his home, Danny Pariat and Madeline Tham recalled the contribution of Husain and his family to Meghalaya to enrich the society and heritage.
