AICC leader questions BJP’s inaction on MDA scandals

Shillong, Feb 15: Supriya Shrinate, AICC chairperson in-charge social media and digital platforms, wanted to know what the BJP has been doing for the last five years being part of the NPP-led government to address corruption issue.

Her reaction on Wednesday is following the announcement of the BJP national president JP Nadda that a special SC judicial panel will probe all corruption cases under the MDA while releasing the party manifesto.

Supriya said, “Today, the President of BJP released their party manifesto and promised to establish a Special Task Force under a retired Supreme Court Judge to investigate cases of corruption against the MDA ruling alliance. This is a big joke because the BJP are themselves a part of the alliance. The people of Meghalaya want to know -what were they doing for the last 5 years?

According to Supriya, the BJP has realised that it will not win any seat in Meghalaya, so the announcement of the Special Task Force is actually a veiled threat to other smaller parties to fall in line or else they will be under the scanner.

She said during the manifesto release, there were two members of the BJP on the dias – ALHek and Shanbor Shullai who were part of the ruling MDA alliance.

“Will the BJP also investigate its own partymen who were a part of the corrupt ruling MDA alliance? , she asked.

“The BJP ,manifesto released today is a lip service full of jumlas. The Congress party’s commitments made in our manifesto are the best, realistic and implementable”, she said.

Cong commitment

She said the party has assured to provide   single mothers (BPL) Rs 3000/- per month – 36,000/- per annum BJP.

“We will provide free education to every girl child from kg to 12th standard. We will provide 4 (every quarter) free LPG cylinders in a year for BPL families. We are committing to provide employment to one person from every household. This is proof that the Bharatiya Jumla Party is trying to fool the innocent people of Meghalaya with more jumlas”, she asserted.

BJP a threat to the Identity of people

She said the BJP is a threat to the people of Meghalaya as it s evident from the attacks on churches in various parts of India

“Innocents are lynched on allegations of eating beef  besides religious profiling of Christians and Muslims in Assam is a matter of concern”, she said.

The Sixth Schedule of the constitution which guarantees protection to the indigenous tribals of Meghalaya is also under threat, she said.

Terming the AITC as an outsider, the AICC leader said that its dubious entry and immediate exit post-election in Goa puts serious doubts on TMC .

“Is TMC a silent partner of the BJP? Was the entry of TMC in Goa only a charade done to divide the votes against Congress. Is TMC attempting something similar in Meghalaya? Is it intentionally going to cheat the people of Meghalaya also? If they are not in agreement with BJP in Meghalaya, why is TMC silent about the BJP in Meghalaya”, she said.

Bobbeeta Sharma, AICC Media Coordinator and Sanjay Das, General Secretary, Meghalaya PCC were also present.
