Shillong, Jan 17: Along with the rest of the citizens of Meghalaya , the residents of Akonggre locality, Tura is proud of the young boy Apandanka Marak who had played a vital role in the recently concluded National Cricket tourney – Vijay Merchant Cup (under 16 Category). Chosen for the opening pace bowler among the Meghalaya Cricket Team, Apandanka represented Meghalaya. It is because of his effort that the Meghalaya cricket team could make it to the final. However, Meghalaya team lost to Manipur in the final match held at Jharkand. Apandanka stood as third highest wicket taker at Vijay Merchant Trophy. He could manage only three wickets in the final match.
The Akonggre Nokma Committee felicitated the local boy after he returned home from the Tourney recently . The motive of felicitating Apandanka was to encourage him for his future career and to inspire the young generations to follow such discipline.
