All Souls Day is dedicated to remembering and praying for the departed souls. In the Shillong Archdiocese, the faithful observed the occasion with devotion.

A special memorial service was held at Laitumkhrah, the central parish of the Shillong Archdiocese.

At the Laitumkhrah cemetery, many faithful gathered to offer prayers, lay flowers, and light candles in remembrance of their loved ones, friends, and all the departed souls, seeking God’s mercy and peace for their souls.

The Mass, held at the Laitumkhrah parish cemetery, was presided over by the Archbishop Lyngdoh, who served as the main celebrant. In his homily, the Archbishop highlighted the spiritual significance of the day, urging the faithful to reflect on eternal life and the hope found in God, the giver of life and salvation.

“Our prayer today is not only to remember those who have gone before us, but also to renew our hope in God, who grants us eternal life”, he said.

He encouraged the faithful to continue practicing acts of love, prayer, and remembrance within their families and communities as a sign of unity with the souls of the departed.

After the Mass, the Archbishop led a special prayer service and the blessing of graves, as the faithful joined in solemn devotion to honour and remember their loved ones
