Arunachal Pradesh gets new Keyi Panyor district
Itanagar, Mar 1 (UNI): Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday inaugurated the newly formed Keyi Panyor district at Yachuli (Ter Gapin – Sam Sath) in the presence of Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, MPs Tapir Gao and Nabam Rebia, Cabinet colleagues, MLAs and other dignitaries.
With this, the total number of districts in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 26. The Keyi Panyor district with its headquarters at Yachuli (Ter Gapin – Sam Sath area) was created by bifurcating it from Lower Subansiri district.
It may be mentioned that the State Assembly had on February 8 last passed the Arunachal Pradesh (Re-organisation of Districts) (Amendment) Bill, 2024, paving the way for the creation of the Keyi Panyor district along with another new district, Bichom.
Handing over the new district flag to the new deputy commissioner in the presence of local legislator and Education Minister Taba Tedir, the Chief Minister extended his heartiest congratulations to the people of the newly created district including Yachuli constituency.
“Let’s embark on a new journey together to make this district a shining example of development for others,” he appealed.
In his address, Khandu stressed the need to combat corruption for a prosperous future. “A strong commitment is key, and I believe that people’s support will be instrumental. Together, we can build a corruption-free ecosystem,” he said.
“I share in the joy of the people and assure them that all infrastructure needs will be met. Yachuli’s potential in agriculture and horticulture is immense. With a robust road network, we can accelerate production and exports,” Khandu wrote on X after launching the new district.
