Assam journalist released after days of ordeal

Shillong, Mar 29: Assam journalist Dilwar Hussain Mozumdar was released on Saturday evening, two days after his re-arrest.
The chief judicial magistrate’s court on Friday granted him bail in the second case. He was rearrested based on a complaint lodged by the MD of Assam Co-operative Apex Bank. Mozumdar was reporting on the alleged irregularities in the bank. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is the director of the bank.
A video of Mozumdar showed him breaking down in front of the media. As he recounted the experience, he said that he would not stop questioning.
The Assam media fraternity (Read: Shillong Press Club condemns Dilwar’s arrest) went up in arms against the Himanta government for the arrest and questioned the way the State was showing its high-handedness.
