A total of 783 trainees participated in the ceremony, including 274 Agniveers and 509 Territorial Army recruits who commenced training on May 1, 2025.

The Agniveer batch comprised Naga/Kuki (08), Mizo/Lushai (02), Assamese/Kachari (20), Arunachali (18), and other recruits from across the North East Region (226), showcasing the region’s rich and diverse martial heritage.

The chief minister reviewed the parade, which included the march-past, presentation of Regimental Colours, trooping of the National Flag and administration of the oath. Selected parents were presented the ‘Gaurav Padak’ in recognition of their contribution to national service.

In his address, the chief minister praised the distinguished legacy of the Assam Regiment, noting that it was raised in Shillong on June 15, 1941, and “bravely fought against the Japanese during the Second World War,” playing a critical role in safeguarding the nation. He stated, “It is a matter of great pride that today, after completing your training, you have become an integral part of the Assam Regiment and the Indian Army.”

He highlighted the responsibilities that lie ahead, observing that the newly attested soldiers would serve “in extreme weather conditions on high mountains and in remote border areas,” and urged them to uphold the Regiment’s motto Asam Vikram. He also reminded them of the Army’s core values—“Duty, Sacrifice, Discipline and Patriotism… the hallmarks of a true soldier.”

The chief minister congratulated the families present and expressed confidence that the recruits were “ready for every challenge that lies ahead.” He also acknowledged the dedication of the instructional staff in shaping the trainees and conveyed his best wishes to the new soldiers and their families.

The programme concluded with a slow march, the Army Song, the Regimental Song, the National Anthem, and a group photograph with the passing-out batch. A Physical Training ( PT) display and interaction with parents were also organised before the chief minister’s departure.
