Assembly panel wants conversion of MCCL into museum
Shillong, May 29: The Assembly Committee on assurances wanted. MCCL factory to be converted into a museum and the staff quarters into a resort.
The committee led by Chairman Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, along with membersĀ Gabriel Wahlang, MLA, and Matthew B Kurbah, MLA, conducted a spot inspection of MCCL at Sohra on Wednesday.
The members unanimously agreed to recommend to the government the conversion of the factory into a museum and the quarters of the MCCL into a resort, with the possibility of offering staff the opportunity to manage the resort and museum. He added that by converting the premises into a tourist spot, revenue could be generated.
