Assembly to go paperless from this autumn session
Shillong, Sept 8: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will go for digital transaction of the business from the autumn session starting from Friday.
Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh said National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) Project is being implemented by the Assembly from the current session.
The purpose is to depend on digital transaction reducing the use of paper, he said.
“Though it is too short a time, we will start with the digitisation of conduct of the House and We had already conducted training and workshops in this regard”, he said, adding that the idea is to have no more paper on the table.
“But since it is the starting time, we will have both digital and use of papers but gradually, it will lead to complete digitisation”, Metbah said.
The digital mode will give advantage for the members to connect with the Assembly secretariat and they can also send questions, motions, resolutions and other requirements digitally instead of sending hard copies, he added.
