Backtracking on Framework Agreement will be murder of human rights: NSCN-IM

Dimapur, Nov 28 (NNN): On the first day of the ‘winter session’ of its parliament known as the ‘Tatar Hoho’, the NSCN-IM said if the Government of India backtracks on the ‘historic’ Framework Agreement, “which was signed at the highest level and in the eye of the whole world”, it will amount to the murder of human rights and the murder of history.

“If then, who on earth will trust India? Will the Naga people have any reason to trust India?” it asked.

A communique from the ‘tatar hoho’ of the NSCN-IM said, “As enemies and false political teachers of the Nagas keep sowing the bitter seeds of dissension and the toxic preaching in the public platforms and mass media every now and then, NSCN has to reiterate its unambiguous stand on the Naga national political issue.”

Regarding the recent statement of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) — ‘Beyond Framework Agreement’ — the NSCN-IM said it is an antithesis of the officially signed “historic” Framework Agreement. “It is viewed as an attempt to murder the Framework Agreement. Therefore, the NSCN unequivocally condemned it,” it added.

It stated that no one can deny the historical fact that NNC has fallen from its former glory. After the fall of NNC, NSCN was mandated by the Naga National Assembly to continue the resistance movement, the NSCN-IM parliament stated.

“Today, the NSCN is recognised by the Government of India as the only authentic political organisation of the Naga people, which is officially engaging in political talks with the Government of India at the Prime Minister level,” it claimed.

In the diplomatic field, the statement also said the NSCN leaders have talked with many international dignitaries from many countries covering five continents.

“They extended their strong support to the case of the Nagas. NSCN was granted Membership to UNPO, a parallel organisation to UNO. Leaders of the NSCN were granted the privilege to speak on the human rights situation in Nagalim at the United Nations Human Rights meetings six times consecutively. We are signatories of the Geneva Call Deed of Commitment. Our people are well informed about this,” it added.
