Bangiya Sahitya Parishad releases book of short stories

Shillong, Dec 14: Bangiya Sahitya Parishad, Shillong, in association with Mukhabayob, published its first-ever book, “Rosher Haari”, a collection of Bengali short stories by  Kalpana Choudhury, a retired teacher of Pine Mount School and a distinguished writer in the literary circles of Shillong and North East India.

The book captures the essence of life through various experiences, emotions, and social realities as observed and felt by the author.

The book was formally launched on December 14 at the premises of Bangiya Sahitya Parishad, Shillong, by Dr. Amitrasudan Bhattacharjee, retired Professor of Bengali from Visva-Bharati, Shantiniketan. Dr. Bhattacharjee, an acclaimed writer and literary scholar, is widely known for his expertise in the literary traditions of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Rabindranath Tagore.

Other eminent personalities present at the dais for the launch included Dr. Jayanta Bhushan Bhattacharjee, Ex VC Assam University and President of Bangiya Sahitya Parishad; Debabrata Deb, eminent writer and Editor of Mukhabayob from Agartala and Tanmoy Bir, professor, poet and researcher in Bengali literature from Kolkata.

While speaking at the event, the author expressed her gratitude to Bangiya Sahitya Parishad for providing her a platform through their quarterly publication “Karmashala”, which helped her writings reach a wider readership.

The event witnessed a distinguished gathering of writers, scholars, and literary enthusiasts from Shillong, marking a significant moment in the city’s Bengali literary landscape.
