Bank unions stage protest

Shillong, Jan 27: Meghalaya unit of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on Friday staged a protest on the premises of the Main Branch of SBI in Shillong for various demands.

They were supposed to have cease work on January 30 and 31.

However, another round of conciliation meeting was held in Mumbai. All their demands were discussed. Due to these developments, the strike call was deferred

The demands include introduction of 5 day week, updation of pension for past retirees,
adequate recruitment in all cadres in order to ensure better customer service, scrapping of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and restoration of the old or convention pension scheme.
