BCCI to donate Rs 10 cr for Olympic preparations

New Delhi, Jun 20 (UNI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday pledged to donate Rs 10 crore for the training and preparations of Indian athletes who have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, scheduled to begin from July 23.

According to a Cricbuzz report, the decision to extend monetary help to Indian athletes was taken at the BCCI’s emergent Apex Council meeting, attended by Board president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah.

Apart from extending financial support for the Tokyo-bound athletes,  BCCI will also help in the promotional campaigns of the Indian contingent.

The Indian Olympic Association is expected to send around a 190-200-member contingent for the Olympic Games.
