Bengali actor towards big-screen debut

Shillong, Dec 20: The upcoming Bengali film Take Care Bhalobasa, based on the friendship of four friends and the changing dynamics of their relationships, is set to be released soon. The film is being directed by young filmmaker Soumojit Adak. Its story explores aspects of friendship, relationships, and emotions that are often overlooked by today’s generation.

Through this film, actor Susovan Sonu Roy is set to make his big-screen debut with his forthcoming project. He plays the character Joy, who is an important part of the narrative.

Alongside his film career, Susovan has also remained active in the fields of fashion and modelling.

The Ethnic Elegance 2025 beauty pageant, held on 7 December in Kolkata, was conducted as a structured competition. The event included several rounds such as ramp walk practice, portfolio photoshoot, personal interview rounds, a grand ramp show, and introductory walk and question–answer rounds.

After the completion of all stages, the jury held detailed deliberations, and the final results were announced during the crowning and special recognition ceremony. Based on his balanced stage presence, confidence, and interview performance, he was awarded the title of Mr. Ethnic Elegance 2025 – First Runner-Up.

Susovan was born in Howrah, and his childhood was spent between Kolkata and Guwahati. He lost his father at the age of three and a half. He later completed his graduation in Commerce from Dumdum Motijheel Rabindra Mahavidyalaya. Alongside his studies, he received training in western dance and participated in several stage performances.

His first step towards acting began with a workshop under the guidance of director Pijush Saha, where he trained for nearly one and a half years. After multiple auditions, he made his television debut in 2019. His first show was Anandamoyee Maa (Akash Aath channel), in which he played the role of a Vaishnav devotee under the direction of late filmmaker Debidas Bhattacharya.

He later appeared in popular Star Jalsha serials Mohor and Korapakhi. His other television works include Jamuna Dhaki (Zee Bangla), Titli, and Khelaghor (Star Jalsha). During the COVID-19 lockdown, acting opportunities became limited, after which he shifted his focus towards modelling and worked with several brands.

In 2024, he participated in a new acting workshop, where he met director Soumojit. Following this, he was selected for Take Care Bhalobasa, The music of the film has been composed by Nilayan Chatterjee and Ishan Mitra.
