Shillong, May 9: The BJP MDC, Bernard Marak said on Sunday that instead of targeting the GHADC employees, the CEM should clarify on diversion of Rs 36.40 crore from GHADC in the last financial year.
In a statement, Marak said that the BJP government at the Centre sanctioned Rs 91 crore to Meghalaya under the 15th Finance Commission for the three district councils and the fund (Rs 36.40 crore) allocated to GHADC was diverted during the Administrative Rule when Council was under lock and key.
Marak asked Benedict R Marak, the newly elected CEM of GHADC to inform the public on the status of the Rs 36.40 crore before taking any step against the employees.
“The NPP is BJP’s ally but the funds sanctioned by the BJP government for the GHADC was diverted unlawfully. Benedict R Marak is the new CEM and he should clarify on the status of the amount sanctioned because the money is said to have gone missing from GHADC”, Marak said, adding that this is a serious matter and should be looked into immediately as the EC refuses to pay the salaries of the employees.
“I was informed that the top officials of GHADC worked from their pseudo offices in a Shillong hotel and diverted the fund to other heads under the state and to cover up the manipulation, they are trying to force the office to open”, Marak said.
