Shillong, July 4: Border Guard Bangladesh Additional Director General, Region Commander, Chattogram Md Shazedur Rahman on Thursday downplayed human migration by saying that the economic condition of Bangladesh has improved.
“We dont find any news that it is increasing. in Bangladesh our socio-economic condition is increasing so going to other countries is decreasing as per our data source,” Rahman told journalists on the concluding day of Inspectors General BSF-Region Commanders BGB level Border Co-ordination Conference.
He was replying to a question on human trafficking.
The BSF, Meghalaya recently apprehended Kashmir bound youths from Bangadesh who were in search of jobs,
Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier HS Dhillon said the BSF had apprehended a lot of Indian touts and booked them under various sections of the law due to which there has been a decrease in the illegal crossing from Bangladesh to India.
“At the same time, we also shared our concern about the touts existing in Bangladesh and BGB has assured to take action against those touts,” the officer added.
