Shillong, Sept 24: A bike rider was killed after the motorcycle rammed into a bus, which caught fire due to the impact in Nongpoh on Wednesday night.
According to Ri Bhoi SP Vivekanand Singh Rathore, the incident occurred around 10.20 pm in the area opposite Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
The official said during the inquiry, it was found that the rider of the motorcycle (ML 05 Y3698 KTM Duke) was coming from Guwahati towards Shillong. The bike rammed into the bus, and as a result of the impact, the vehicle caught fire and burned. Due to the swift response of the fire and emergency team, Nongpoh, the fire was doused, and all the passengers of the bus were evacuated safely. The body has been shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for conducting a post-mortem examination on Thursday, the SP said.
