Shillong, April 10: NPP National President Conrad Sangma said the move of the coalition partner BJP to contest the bypoll to the Shillong seat will not affect the NPP.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Conrad said, “It is okay as elections are fine as every party has its own democratic rights to contest. In a coalition, we do expect some discussions prior, but it is not always necessary that we have to agree with all aspects.”
Sangma further said. “I respect that every party has its own identity, constitution, and rights to contest democratically. We are not going to intervene. Every party has the right to make a decision.”
Conrad said the NPP will finalise its candidates for the Shillong Lok Sabha bypoll and Rajya Sabha nomination.
“We will be having the meeting very soon, and the party will be finalising in both areas very soon,” Sangma said.
