The party also distributed pamphlets to the residents as part of the anti-drug campaign with an aim to promote awareness.

The party president Ernest Mawrie, who is set to contest from West Shillong, said that different programmes will be carried out in the state to counter the problem.

He also expressed concern over the presence of large number of drug users in Mawbah.

The mission goal programme launched by BJP is not only for elections but will be continued post elections too. Mawrie said Meghalaya has nearly 2.5 lakh drug users which is 7.65 % of the state population.

“We as a party are totally committed to solve this problem and will ensure our Home Minister Amit Shah’s commitment of zero tolerance on the drug menace is adhered to”, he said.
