BJP to put up candidate for Gambegre seat: Hek
Shillong, July 1:The BJP has decided to field a candidate for the bypoll to Gambegre seat.
“I had discussed this with our president and national vice president and incharge BJP Meghalaya. The party is very keen so definitely we will be contesting the election”, BJP leader AL Hek told reporters on Monday.
He said there are so many ticket aspirants.
When asked, the BJP leader said though the name of Tura MDC Bernard Marak is doing the rounds it will depend on the party to whom ticket will be allotted.
No resentment against party president
Hek denied any resentment against the state president Rikman G Momin.
“We have not received any resentment letter against Rikman officially. Talks will always be there but why believe in this talking. Problems will always be there in every political party but such things are internal matters to be revolved within the party”, he said.
The cabinet minister said he doesn’t see Congress emerging as a strong force in Garo Hills since LS poll is different and MLA and council elections are also different.
He said the BJP is a national party and is ready to fight elections to the KHADC & JHADC.
“If we contest MP and MLA, why not MDC also,” he added.
