Shillong, July 15: BJP leader AL Hek has said the party will support a consensus candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat .
Hek told reporters on Tuesday that the BJP will listen to the decision of the larger party in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) which is the NPP.
According to Hek, the BJP’s support is not for any particular individual or party but rather for the consensus decision that emerges from discussions with other alliance partners.
Cabinet berth
Hek said the party will take a call on matters related to cabinet berth.
To a question on whether the BJP will get two cabinet berths in the upcoming reshuffle, Hek said the MLAs will follow the party’s decision.
‘BJP-led govt in 2028’
Hek said his party will lead the government in Meghalaya in 2028.
He said the party has started the preparation and is working towards the 2028 Assmbly elections.
“It will be a BJP-led government in 2028,” Hek said.
“We will have good candidates and we will have strong election organisation in the state of Meghalaya and BJP will prepare itself two-three years ahead of the election,” he said.
