Shillong, Oct 5:The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Sunday located the bodies of the father-son duo from flood water in West Garo Hills.
According to a statement of the SDRF, the two bodies are believed to be the occupants of the car found from the flood water at Dalu Sonagre junction under Barengapara police station.
The bodies of the adult male and the minor boy were located by the SDRF on Sunday morning following a search operation which had commenced since Saturday following the retrieval of the vehicle bearing West Bengal registration plate (WB 06 7718, Wagon R).
The SDRF had first located the body of the adult male identified as Bijoy S Sangma (44) around 10 am from the paddy field and subsequently the body of the minor identified as Wian Chicago R Marak (14) was recovered a few meters away. Both are residents of Rongkhon Songgital, Tura.
PH Shylla, Additional Public Relations Officer, Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, said the SDRF team were stationed in flood-hit Dalu area from Friday following flash floods due to heavy rainfall.
Three deaths reported from East Garo Hills
Three deaths were reported in East Garo Hills on October 5 and 6.
While Tengseng Marak (28) from Thibapara died due to falling of a tree on October 5, two others-Ami Marak (40) and Manasse Marak (14)- from Gongdop, East Garo Hills died due to landslide on October 6.
