Shillong, Aug 3: The body of a minor girl aged 12-13 was recovered on August 1 from Jangrapara village under Phulbari police station, West Garo Hills.
Post mortem examination of the body has already been conducted and a case vide Tura Women PS, case no. 58(08)2023 U/s 302/376A IPC R/W Sec. 5/6 of POCSO Act has been registered. No arrest has been made yet.
“Investigating officer is conducting the investigation meticulously and there are strong clues about the suspect involved in this heinous offence”, the SP VS Rathore said.
The official said the identity of the deceased is not being revealed in the interest of investigation and as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
“All concerned are requested not to spread any kind of rumour or speculation in social media. If any information is available regarding the suspect, the concerned person may kindly share with Police Control Room, Tura (Mobile No. 8837423053). His/her identity shall be kept secret”, the SP added.
