Shillong,May 27: Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation on Thursday distributed essentials to poor people who are in distress due to Covid.
The Meghalaya unit of the Foundation based in New Delhi took the initiative to reach out to the needy.
On Thursday, the volunteers of the Foundation were seen assisting those who were in need of help.
President of the local unit, S K Choudhury said the organisation got permission from the district administration for distribution of essentials in ten locations and till date 90 families received assistance.
“We made announcement in Bengali and Hindi and the response of the people was good”, Choudhury said.
The state unit of the Foundation started functioning from February this year and it has undertaken varied initiatives, including cleaning drive.
