Book fair evening comes Alive with music band

Shillong, Oct 6: Sunday was a funday at the Shillong Book Fair that not only saw an impressive footfall thanks to the clement weather but also had a lively band performance.

The otherwise quite ambience dominated by serious readers turned into a fun-filled evening as music lovers grooved to the music of Alive, a local music band.

Among other cultural performances were Sattriya dance by Nirjari Nath and Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav by the students of Geetanjali.

On Sunday, people from all age groups and walks of life were seen sifting through books before picking up their favourites. Among the visitors was Swapnil Tembe, Director in the Department of Education, Government of Meghalaya.

“The collection here is quite good. I browsed through the stores for more than an hour and picked up 10 books. I also bought a few books yesterday (5 October, 2024),” said Tembe, who started a free library at the DC office in West Garo Hills when he was posted as the deputy commissioner there.
