BSF assures probe, coordination panel formed

Shillong , Feb 13: In contrast to the statement of the BSF which had denied the allegations of harassment of the veterinary doctor in the border, a meeting convened by the Deputy Chief Minister-in charge home, Prestone Tynsong  with the BSF, DGP and state home department officials on Tuesday decided to form a coordination committee to stop further incidents in future.

After the meeting, the BSF IG, HS Dhillon said that inquiry was on to ascertain the allegation that the BSF personnel had threatened to shoot the doctor stripped him.

DGP LR Bishnoi said that a coordination committee will be constituted to ensure peace in the border and also to prevent such kind of incidents in future.

Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said the coordination committees will be there in all the civil subdivisions along the international border with Bangladesh to prevent any misunderstandings and unfortunate incidents involving the local populace and the Border Security Force (BSF).

“We will have this committee at the sub-divisional level to be headed  by the SDO (C) and members will be the SDPO of those respective civil sub-divisions and the company commanders of the respective BSF camps. Also, we would like to have traditional heads to be part of the committee,” Tynsong said while adding “At least, the committee will sit if not once a week, may be twice a month or once a month, they will sort it out those differences wherever arises or even without any conflict or any incident, they can always have a meeting and this will be notified very soon along with the terms and reference of this coordination committee”, Tynsong said.
