BSF man,two others injured in aerosol blast after gas cylinder leak in Umpling

Shillong, Aug 20:Three persons, including a BSF jawan, were injured following an aerosol blast due to leakage from a domestic cooking gas cylinder.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem told reporters on Wednesday that on April 19, around 10:10 pm, information was received telephonically regarding a blast near BSF Umpling gate. On inquiry, it was found that the blast occurred in the portion of the private building rented by Shubam Ch. Momin, who sustained burn injuries, was referred to Guwahati for advanced treatment.
Another person who was in the house, identified as Satyajit Paul, sustained minor injuries.
Kitchen and bedroom walls of Shubam’s rented portion were also damaged.
Another injured identified as BSF jawan Sandeep Kumar is under treatment at NEIGRIHMS.
Kumar was staying in the adjoining room, and the inner partition wall was damaged in the blast.
The bomb disposal squad inspected the site, and the incident was classified as an aerosol blast due to leakage from a domestic cooking gas cylinder.
