BSF to hold motorcycle rally from Shillong to Delhi to celebrate 75 years of freedom

Shillong, Aug 29: The BSF Meghalaya will hold motorcycle rally from Shillong to Delhi on September 1 to mark the anniversary of 75th Independence Day.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Inderjit Singh Rana, IG, BSF Meghalaya Frontier said 30 motorcyclists-15 from Jaanbaaz motor cycle team and 15 motorcyclists from Seema Bhawani motorcycle team- will participate in the rally. Lajja Ram Bishnoi, DGP Meghalaya  will flag off the rally from Sector HQ BSF, Shillong on September 1in the presence of the IG BSF Meghalaya Frontier.

The rally will pass through Guwahati, Dhubri, Siliguri, Balurghat, Berhampore, Kolkata, Dhanbad, Aurangabad Prayagraj, Kanpur, Agra covering the states of Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and finally culminating at Delhi on September 16.

The rally will be conducted under the supervision of HQ Special Director General (EC) BSF, Kolkata in coordination with various state administrations/police.

The BSF is conducting a series of calendar events, including band display at various BSF locations/establishments, friendly volleyball and football match with BGB, cycle rally, photo exhibition and cultural programmes from July to December this year under HQ Eastern Command, BSF Kolkata.

The intention of the motorcycle rally is to raise awareness on national integration despite differences in culture, customs, traditions and religion. The participants will also interact with school children, NCC volunteers and youths in several cities en-route. The rally will show case various events like; awareness on drugs, smuggling and short films on BSF to highlight the role and task of the Force, India’s first line of defence and the largest border guarding force in the world.

“This will also encourage country’s youths to join the Border Security Force, for safeguarding our national territory”, Rana said.

Jaanbaaz motor cycle team

Later speaking to reporters, the leader of Jaanbaaz motorcycle team, inspector Vishwajeet Bhatia ( in picture with the team and solo exhibition) said the team won laurels and awards for its excellent display of talent by way of dangerous formations.

He hoped that this will inspire the youths as the country is celebrating 75 years of Independence.

Sanjay Sharma, commandant of 172 BN BSF has also supported the team.

172 Bn BSF has been entrusted to ensure smooth and safe passage of bike rally from Shillong to Guwahati. 172 Bn BSF Mawpat will coordinate with the civil administration and the police. It also arranged an interaction of rally members with the youth of Ri-Bhoi district.
