BSF welcomes cycle rally in East Jaintia Hills border
Shillong, Nov 11: Border Security Force’s Cycle Rally to mark the 75th anniversary of Independence, was flagged off from ICP Akhaura, Tripura and it entered Meghalaya on Friday. The rally comprises 19 cyclists and will cover a distance of 2200 km from Tripura to South Bengal.
Sandeep Rawat, DIG, Sector Jowai along with other officials welcomed the rally by garlanding all the cyclists on entering Meghalaya Frontier and a band show was organised on their arrival. A cultural programme was also organised by students of Holy Cross School, Umkiang for the cyclists and border population of the area.
The rally will convey the message to create a sense of security among border population, and spread awareness about stopping trans-border crimes, ill effects of drugs use and to motivate the youths to join the BSF, India’s first line of defense.
The rally has covered 420 km distance so far, it will cover almost 245 km distance in Meghalaya ,promoting awareness on national integration and will spread the message of patriotism and fraternity among all Indians.
