BSF recovers arms and ammunition

Shillong, Jan 21: The BSF and the police, in a joint operation, recovered arms and ammunition from an area in South West Khasi Hills, on Friday.

The troops of 193 Bn BSF launched search operation with the police in the dense forest area all along the Lakma nalla that flows from India to Bangladeh and recoveredĀ  arms and ammunition hidden underground. The area falls under PS Borsora, South West Khasi Hills.

The arms and ammunition were found wrapped in a yellow colour plastic bag which contained a 0.38 USA made revolver, 2 magazines, 410 live rounds and 35 EFC. The surrounding area was also searched using metal detector but nothing more could be found. In the past also, hidden arms and ammunition used by the insurgent groupsĀ  were recovered by the BSF.

The place of recovery is 1 km inside India from international border and 1.5 km from BSF BOP Borsora of the 193 Bn BSF.

An FIR was lodged and the recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to the police.
