Business tycoon T Mohandas Pai dies
Bengaluru, Aug 1 (UNI): Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday expressed shock over the death of T Mohandas M Pai, a businessman and founder of Udayavani newspaper. Pai passed away on Sunday after a prolonged illness.
Paying tributes, Bommai said the 89-year-old was a mentor to all. “Senior businessman, founder of Udayavani newspaper, T. Mohandas Pai’s death shocked me. I pray that God may grant eternal peace to his soul, who was like a mentor to all,” Bommai tweeted.
Congress leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said: “The death of Pai … who was at the forefront of many associations and organizations and involved himself in social work is saddening.”
Another former Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy, said Pai was an excellent administrator and gave jobs to many people.
Pai was Manipal Group of Institutions’ founder and rendered services at Dr TMA Pai Foundation and Manipal Media Network, which runs Udayavani.
A law graduate, Pai was the eldest son of Dr TMA Pai.
Pai also headed the Industrial Credit and Development Syndicate (ICDS) Ltd, a company which is the successor to the erstwhile Syndicate Bank Ltd.
