Shillong, Sept 30: The cabinet has approved the extent of land under the General Administration Department (GAD) at Saitsohpen, within the Sohra Civil Sub-Division, marking a significant step towards resolving a decade-old land dispute.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters on Tuesday that for several decades, there has been a dispute between the Elaka Saitsohpen and the State Government regarding ownership of land in the area. To address this, a committee chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, was constituted. The committee engaged extensively with all concerned stakeholders to facilitate a permanent resolution.
