Shillong, Sept 30: The cabinet has approved the Meghalaya Directorate and District Drivers’ Service Rules, 2025. These rules establish a uniform framework for managing drivers employed under Directorates and District Offices across various Administrative Departments.
Previously, the absence of such Service Rules led to inconsistencies in service management, pay structures, career progression, and general working conditions.

“With today’s approval, a standardized system will now be in place to ensure fairness, clarity, and improved service conditions for all concerned employees,” Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
