Shillong, Sept 15: The cabinet has approved CM IMPACT+, a new Grant-in-Aid programme to strengthen Secondary and Higher Secondary education across Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said with around 1,900 Secondary and Higher Secondary schools serving the state, and 7 blocks having no Secondary School at all, “we need a focused push to expand and strengthen this crucial stage of education”.
“Under CM IMPACT+, eligible schools will receive lump-sum grants that institutions can utilise based on their specific needs. Importantly, the scheme will be reviewed annually and linked to performance, with better-performing schools receiving greater financial support and incentives. This is a step towards strengthening our schools, improving outcomes and ensuring that more of our children have access to quality education beyond the primary level”, he said.
