Shillong, Aug 7: Cabinet has approved a new policy to regulate rental of bikes and vehicles to tourists.
Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the policy was framed to ensure tourists’ safety and proper sector regulation.
“All individuals renting out private vehicles and bikes must now register with the Transport Department”, he added.
The decision has come after the alleged killers of Raja Raghuvanshi hired scooters without registration.
