Shillong, Nov 26: The Cabinet has approved the proposal to adopt a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) governing the use of beacons, flashers, sirens, tinted glasses, and similar features in official vehicles.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangna told reporters after the meeting that the SoP will clearly define who is authorised to use sirens and beacons, as well as who may use tinted glasses or flashers. All related aspects were thoroughly discussed, and the cabinet expressed a consensus on the need for a strict mechanism to regulate and limit the use of such equipment.
