Candlelight protest over student’s death; principal removed
Shillong, Sept 22: Lighting candles, the Garo Hills residents sought justice for the class IX student of Loyola School, Williamnagar, Cherian Bemik M Sangma, who died on Tuesday after a log fell on him when he and other students tried to remove it at the request of the school principal .
Following protests, the principal of the school, Jesuit priest, Melwyn Fernandes was suspended by the Jesuit Education Council.
The Council, while condoling the death of the student, assured to cooperate with the investigation.
A magisterial inquiry is on regarding the incident.
