Shillong, Nov 12: Cash seizure, allegations and counter allegations besides alleged misuse of the name of TMC leader Mukul Sangma marked the eve of Gambegre bypoll.
According to the police, on Tuesday around 8.30 pm one Bolero bearing registration number Ml-08-J-5521was intercepted during vehicle checking at Rimrangpara junction and Ra.58,500 was seized from Beniar Ch Sangma of Rimrangpara, a polling agent of AlTC. He was accompanied by Emuel Sangma of Darenggre, and driver Sengchang Sangma of Garobadha, The seizure was made by SST, team.
Besides the seizure, one Jostview D Sangma withdrew his complaint againstĀ MDC Stevie Marak.
According to the police in South West Garo Hills, as Jostview who had made the allegations of violation of model code of conduct by the MDC withdrew the FIR, the case will not proceed.
Police said as far as the complaint by Mukul Sangma is concerned, the deputy commissioner has ordered an inquiry.
In the letter addressed to the returning officer of Gambegre, Mukul expressed concern overĀ the circulation of a false, fabricated and malicious video against him .
“A video which is apparently circulating in social media, has been forwarded to me by my party colleagues. The said video wherein the person not known to me personally but identified as Mr. Fourthlight Ch Marak as reflected in the Facebook page of Andresh Chambugong Marak, has alleged me of assaulting him in the early hours of the morning. The allegation in the content is false, fabricated and highly malicious and has badly disturbed my mind and caused immense mental injury. This malicious content has a serious bearing on my good reputation and can have serious ramification on the outcome of the ongoing by-election for 56-Gambegre (ST) Assembly Constituency with further damage to the good reputation that I have built up over the years with hard work, honesty and integrity.This must be investigated immediately as per law and the outcome of the investigation must be made public immediately to prevent further, irreparable damage to my reputation and further action be taken as per law”, Mukul said.
