CBI files FIRs in alleged conspiracy behind Manipur violence
Shillong, June 9 (Agencies): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed six FIRs in its investigation into the alleged conspiracy behind the Manipur violence that started n May 3.
The CBI also set up a special investigation team to probe the allegations. The violence was triggered by a high court order that asked the state government to consider the Meiteis’ demand for ST status. The clashes between the Meiteis and Kukis claimed over 100 lives so far and displaced over 30,000 people.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the state early this month but little could be done to restore peace.
The six cases selected by the state government for CBI to probe include a case of common conspiracy.
