“We condemn this kind of
behaviour of KSU and all other allied groups or individuals. India is a secular country and therefore every citizen has the basic right to do his/her worship as he/she wishes to. Its a fundamental right. Anything against to it, can be referred as anti social, anti constitutional
and anti-national. We, being  citizens of India and being the believers of the constitution of India must not encourage such kind of activities which can lead to communal and social tension in the society. Remembering the circumstances happened with the Mawjawbyn Cave Shivling of Mawsynram, the authority of East Khasi Hills and the Govt of Meghalaya made us happy by
extending their respects towards the secular character of the nation, the Parishad said

“After meetings and discussions we felt that the Govt of Meghalaya will maintain the character of the nation and extend their respect towards strengthening the socio- cultural and inter-communal harmony and they will work further to ensure the national integrity and internal security. But, after hearing the news of locking the door of an under construction common worship hall inside the CBI Office at Shillong by KSU; we lost the confidence of Govt of Meghalaya and suspect their credibility and commitment towards the constitution and for the humanity as well.

Earlier, the KSU set one-week time to demolish the temple.

BJP MLA AL Hek said the government offices should not house places of worship.

When asked on the KSU’s action, Hek said, “Whether it is in the state government or central government, worship place should be in your own private place only or you can go to the identified worship places, not in public places”.

The legislator said the government offices are public spaces accessed by people from all communities.

“The government offices are public places. All kinds of public will go there. Why do you want to create unnecessary inconvenience for people who are working in that organization or in any other organizations,” Hek said.
