
Shillong, May 22: The two-member delegation from the central ministry of education reviewed the NEHU situation on Thursday and termed meetings with all stakeholders normal.
Additional Secretary, central department of higher education Sunil Kumar Barnwal told reporters after meeting that NEHU will work better.
“I had a good meeting with the faculty, all the Deans, Heads of Departments. It was a good experience and the meeting was simply normal and we will work better,” he said.
He was accompanied by director of department of higher education Subrat Kumar Pradhan.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, North Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) president Prof Lakhon Kma and NEHUSU vice president Ricky Deiburom Rabon termed the meeting as fruitful but conveyed that the NEHU VC Prof.PS Shukla should be removed.
The central team informed the stakeholders that it is still studying the earlier inquiry report on the NEHU affairs and hence did not divulge the details.
Prof. SM Sungoh did not want to speak to reporters.

Earlier on May 21, the adjourned Academic Council (AC) meeting was held but NEHU VC had opposed the move.
According to a statement from Sungoh, the meeting was held smoothly with the cooperation of almost 130 AC members who attended the meeting.
Any decision taken in the AC meeting will come out with the minutes of the meeting in due course of time, the statement added.
