
Shillong, Aug 24: Opposition leader Mukul Sangma has alleged that Rs 100.71 crore funded by the Centre and meant for the GHADC was misutilised, while the chairman of the committee to implement schemes was Conrad Sangma.
Speaking to reporters, Mukul pointed out that Conrad chaired the High Powered Committee (HPC) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council for the welfare and developmental programmes in the Garo Hills.
Mukul said GHADC was under the NPP-led Executive Committee, and the council had formed the HPC with extraordinary authority over developmental decisions.
“Accountability falls on the present Chief Minister to explain how the Rs 100.71 crore was used, whether financial norms were observed, and why cases linked to the alleged irregularities remain unresolved before the Lokayukta.”, Mukul said.
Tripartite agreement
Mukul blamed the state government for failing to implement the tripartite agreement with militant groups-ANVC & ANVC-B.
He stressed the need of pursuing with the Centre to implement the agreement which will have positive results to empower the three district councils
