Shillong, Jan 27: Champion Sangma has left the Congress and joined the BJP on January 25.

Atleast 15 supporters of Champion also joined the BJP.
Champion had unsuccessfully contested from Songsak in 2023 Assembly polls.
The joining function on the occasion of Gaon Chalo Abhiyan at CNC Hotel was attended by BJP state president Rikman Momin, BJP leader Boston Marak and others.
Gaon Chalo Abhiyan workshop programme held at Tura was attended by the leaders and party karyakartas upto Mandal level.The programme was conducted under the guidance of Riya Sangma, state convenor for the Gaon chalo abhiyan, in the presence of state president, vice president Bernard Bernard Marak and others.
