Shillong, Sept 8: The All Garo Hills AWW Workers & Helpers Federation has appointed Champion Sangma as advisor to its executive committee.
The Federation convened a meeting at Tura DC Park on September 7. The gathering drew a diverse group of leaders and workers from across the Garo Hills region in representing the interests of Anganwadi workers and helpers in the area.
The meeting provided a platform for support and collective advocacy for better working conditions, fair wages, and recognition of the critical services provided by Anganwadi workers and helpers.
As advisor, Sangma is expected to bring valuable insights and guidance to the federation’s strategic decisions, particularly in its advocacy for workers’ rights and welfare.
In his address to the gathering, Champion expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the executive committee and affirmed commitment to working closely with all members of the federation to achieve their common objectives.
The meeting also featured discussions on several other key issues including timely disbursement of salaries, adequate provision of supplies and resources necessary for the proper functioning of Anganwadi centers, and improved facilities for workers and helpers. Concerns were raised about the lack of recognition and the need for a more structured approach to addressing grievances.
