Charles rules out declaring chief ministerial candidate ahead of polls

Shillong, Dec 15: TMC state president Charles Pyngrope said there is no question of projecting any leader as the chief ministerial candidate ahead of the Assembly polls .

After Gilbert Laloo (in picture) and his supporters joined the AITC on Thursday, to a question on AITC leader Abhishek Banerjee projecting Mukul Sangma as the CM candidate in a recent meeting in Tura, Charles said that it was wrongly reported by the media.

“What the AITC leaders want is that the son of the soil should rule the state”.

When asked about ILP, Charles said there is no change of stand as far as the ILP issue is concerned as the resolution in this regard was passed by all the political parties.

He said there is significant positive change in the perception of the people towards the AITC

The state party leadership has endorsed the stand of AITC national spokesperson Saket Gokhale in raising various issues concerning the state.

“Mr Saket Gokhale is airing his views after  scrutinising the relevant documents”, he said.

“They ( government) are free to file case…most welcome”, Charles added.
