City remains shut for victims of Pahalgam

Shillong, April 28: The city on Monday responded spontaneously to protest against the terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir that killed 26 people.
Shops and business establishments in Khyndailad (Police Bazar) and in biggest market Iewduh (Bara Bazar) remained shut.

Business activities were affected in many parts of the city.
Vehicular traffic was thin but transactions in banks were as usual and offices functioned normally.
The call to protest was given by Shillong Citizens’ Forum.
Two organisations, State Mahila Congress and Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation ( HITO) had petitioned the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner by stating that the closure of business hubs have affected the poor in the state.
