City residents pay tribute to Tagore

Shillong, Oct 11: Tagore admirers of Shillong paid tribute to Rabindranath Tagore at Brookside, Rilbong on Monday to commemorate his first visit day to the city.
The 102 anniversary lamp was lit by Dr Alpana Chakraborty, Prof St Anthony’s College along with Pawan Sancheti, General Secretary of Viswa Hindu Parishad ,Meghalaya. Floral tribute was paid by all.
Tagore admirers from different parts of Shillong joined the morning tribute programme. Tourists from West Bengal also joined the initiative . Since 2015 Tagore admirers have been paying tribute to Tagore on this occasion.
The  programme was organised by Malabika Bisharad of Rilbong after taking permission from DC, East Khasi Hills.
 In her welcome address ,she highligted the history of Brookside. Jayanta Sen of VHP   and a resident of Rilbong thanked the participants.
